Everyone is talking about the Xpeng P7 electric sedan nowadays. The Xpeng P7 is an all-electric sports car developed for an intelligent driving future.  This vehicle has an estimated battery range of 439 miles.  Its advanced level 3 automated driving features are motorized by the energy-efficient, high-performance NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Xavier AI compute platform.

China’s Xpeng P7 is stylish, luxurious, and floats on promises of level 3 autonomy and long-range. It offers cutting-edge autonomous driving and superior driver-vehicle interaction that complements both its range and performance. While it bears some considerable resemblance to the packaging, size, and other features of the Tesla Model 3, this stylish, all-electric sedan focuses more on comfort, rather than sportiness.  With a 118-inch wheelbase, the Xpeng P7 is seven inches longer than the Model 3. Its retracting door handles, black-glass roof, and frameless windows somewhat give a Tesla Model 3 feel.  This is a software-defined next-generation car which means it can be updated recurrently. 

The P7 Is mainly designed for convenient and safe AI-assisted driving.  Its XPilot 3.0 level 3 autonomous driving system is capable of valet parking and automated highway driving. Xpeng is making sure that future customers are able to fell the build quality of the P7 and are offering test drives at major malls around China, many times without an appointment. The Xpeng P7 has a clean-shaped exterior, while the interiors are modern and clean with the central touchscreen and an instrument panel screen at the back of the steering wheel. The Model 3 is said to hit 60 mph slightly over four seconds, while recurring nearby 350 miles of range in the NEDC cycle. It is equipped with five high-precision millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 13 autonomous driving cameras, an in-car camera with high-precision positioning and an HD map. The electric sedan comes with several key styling elements including a short-front overhang, concealed door handles, a long wheelbase, and a panoramic windscreen.

It is equipped with the first-new generation forward-looking millimeter-wave radar sensors, and a detection distance of over 200 meters, that offers an angle of view and market-leading accuracy, effectively helps in penetrating fog, rain, haze to take in surroundings in reduced visibility conditions. Four other high-performance wave radars are placed at each corner of the P7, which is an industry-leading configuration. 

With top-notch connectivity and autonomy, the P7 incorporates many firsts and breakthroughs.  Being the first L3 autonomy-ready production vehicle in the Chinese market, the P7 boasts NEDC 706 km super-long driving range and 4.3s 1-100km/h acceleration.  It delivers 30 TOPS (trillions of operations per second) performance and consumes 30 watts of power only.

The Xpeng P7 comes with a strong autonomous architecture among other vehicles in China. It is powered by NVIDIA’s DRIVE Xavier while operating both the XPILOT3.0 and XPILOT2.0 systems simultaneously to offer complete redundancy.  The XPILOT3.0 hits the high levels of Functional Safety to provide guaranteed security and stability. The safety framework is benchmarked to C-NCAP 5-star standards, as the foundation of Xpeng P7s technology. Its multiple sides, front-facing, rear, and side-facing cameras cover a 180 degrees +field of view that follows tight curves.
